Apple has revealed the pricing for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India. The pricing for the current iPhone 6s and iPhone SE has also been revised with double the storage on the 6s models. Here are the new prices. All prices in INR, unless stated otherwise. Prices in INR are inclusive of all taxes. iPhone 7:
    32GB: 60,000 ($895)
    128GB: 70,000 ($1045)
    256GB: 80,000 ($1194)
iPhone 7 Plus:
    32GB: 72,000 ($1074)
    128GB: 82,000 ($1224)
    256GB: 92,000 ($1373)
iPhone 6s:

    64GB: 44,000 ($656)
As mentioned before, the 6s and 6s Plus models get double the storage. However, the iPhone SE still rocks 16GB as base storage. As for the older iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, those have been discontinued, although you can still pick them up till stocks last.

Android 7.0 Nougat update will finally hit the Nexus 6 and LTE Nexus 9

You may have read that Android 7.0 Nougat started rolling out to devices supported by Google on August 22. You may also know that the Motorola Nexus 6 and the LTE-capable model of the HTC Nexus 9 are both members of that supported device list. Knowing these things you may have been asking yourself why neither has been updated to Nougat yet. If you own either one of these devices, you've been waiting for weeks to hear Google say something - anything - about why the release has been delayed.
And until now the search giant has managed to stay fully silent on the matter. What it did say to Android Police today, however, isn't much. Basically, the updates are still on the way (so there's no conspiracy to wait until October and then say the Nexus 6 has reached the end of life, support-wise). When will they hit? In a few weeks.
Really, the statement is that vague, and there's nothing more to it. No reason has been given for the delay, no explanation, nothing. At this point you have little choice but to wait - a timetable for the rollout isn't available yet. In the meantime, if you're on Marshmallow, are dying to taste some Nougat, and don't mind running possibly buggy software, you can enroll in the Beta program and you'll get the last Developer Preview for Android 7.0.

In terms of camera, the phone features an 8MP rear unit and a 5MP selfie cam. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
The Moto E3 Power is currently only available for purchase in Hong Kong, where it carries a price tag of HKD 1,098 (around $140).

Samsung dragged to court over exploding Galaxy S7

As if the exploding Galaxy Note7 fiasco was not enough, Samsung is facing another embarrassing situation: a Galaxy S7 edge unit caught fire in the owner's pocket, "causing him second and third degree burns."

The incident happened when owner Daniel Ramirez was working at a construction site in Ohio. Reports say the phone was in his right front pocket when suddenly it started "whistling, screeching, and vibrating," and emitting smoke. When Ramirez tried to remove the handset from his pocket, he suffered burns to his right hand.

And then the unit exploded without any warning, catching fire in the pocket itself and causing severe burns to Ramirez - his boxer shots and pants melted to his leg. "He suffered severe and permanent burn injuries to his groin, legs, and lower back that required a significant skin graft surgery and will necessitate extensive physical therapy moving forward."

It's worth mentioning that the incident took place on May 30 this year (even before the Galaxy Note7 was made official), but has just come to light.

It's not yet clear whether or not the Galaxy S7 edge batteries were also manufactured by Samsung SDI, the company that supplied defective Galaxy Note7 batteries. Anyway, Samsung has been dragged to court over the incident - a product liability lawsuit has been filed against the South Korean company.

iPhone 7 warranty doesn't cover liquid damage!

The iPhone 7 is water-resistant and that's a nice feature to have as it definitely gives you peace of mind. However, reading the footnotes on the iPhone 7 specs page reveals that phone's warranty doesn't cover liquid damage.
Here's the full text of the footnote.

"iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are splash, water, and dust resistant and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529. Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty."
The iPhone 7 boasts IP67 rating meaning it's dust-proof and water-resistant in a meter of water up to 30 minutes. Nevertheless, Apple says that the IP67 isn't a permanent feature and with time, it may no longer work as advertised.
Apple isn't the first company to deny covering liquid damage under warranty, as Sony denies warranty for phones that have been fully submerged into water. However, warranty does cover accidental damage from splashes or rain.

How to tell if your Galaxy Note7 will explode

Clearly by now you've heard about the whole exploding Galaxy Note7 fiasco. Samsung's thankfully acted incredibly quickly on this one, and a recall has been issued for all units ever sold. In every country (except China, see more below) you'll be able to return your Note7 and get a safe replacement unit. These new devices that don't have the faulty batteries will arrive in most of Europe on September 19, and in Australia on September 21. After those who already have the phone have replaced theirs, new units will go on sale.
Now you may be wondering if there's any way to tell which are the newly produced safe units and which are those prone to having their batteries explode. The answer is yes, there is. In every market aside from China (where the faulty batteries were never used, so this was never an issue), if you see the label below on your Galaxy Note7's box, you're clear.

Note the small black square on the barcode label and the big blue "S" - supposedly short for "Safe". Again, if your unit has this label, it's fine. If it doesn't, then make sure you return it as soon as the procedure gets under way in your country. Seriously, don't put this off - you wouldn't want your car destroyed by your phone, would you?
If for some reason you don't have your new Note7's box around but still want to be sure it's safe, Samsung will have an online database of IMEI codes up starting on September 13. You can then enter your handset's IMEI into it and it will tell you if you need to worry or not. That's handy, because you can find out your IMEI on your phone, no box required. And if even that somehow doesn't work for you, then Samsung's call centers will be able to help you identify whether you have the safe model.

Samsung wants to use AMD or Nvidia GPUs in its Exynos chipsets, plans to ditch Qualcomm for good in 2018

According to a new "exclusive" report from behind the scenes, Samsung is in talks with both AMD and Nvidia for GPU tech. Namely, the Korean company wants to stop using the ARM-developed Mali GPUs in its Exynos chipset designs, and instead use ones created by AMD or Nvidia.

At the moment, the latter has an upper hand apparently, thanks to its "superior" Pascal architecture, but AMD can't be ruled out just yet since its Polaris architecture is powering the PS4 Pro.

Past rumors said that in 2017 we'll see an Exynos chipset with a Mali GPU still, but employing Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA). This will let the CPU and GPU sit on the same bus and share memory and tasks, which should improve overall performance. Then, in 2018 we might see either a Samsung-developed GPU or one licensed from AMD or Nvidia if these talks pan out.
In parallel, the Korean company is slowly developing its CDMA modem tech, aiming to start testing support for that mobile network flavor in September 2017. If all goes well, then expect to see only one Galaxy S9 model in early 2018, powered by an Exynos chip - no more Snapdragon version for certain markets. With this move, Samsung will essentially ditch Qualcomm for good in the high-end mobile device space.
As with all unconfirmed rumors, don't take any of this for granted. However, it has to be said that all of the moves described here do make a lot of sense for Samsung in its continuous strive to develop more and more parts of its Systems-on-a-Chip in-house.

Android 7.0 Nougat Factory image and OTA file for Nexus 6P now posted (Links included)

While many have already been running the official version of Android Nougat for a little while now (namely those who participated actively in the Android developer preview builds), the same can’t be said for every Nexus 6P owner. Google held the update back for a little while to work out a few battery optimization issues.

The Nexus 6P’s factory image is now up and ready to download for your flash-all.bat pleasure. The build is listed with the code: NRD90U. It’s also worth noting that this build of Android 7.0 Nougat is already fixed up to September’s security patches, and not August’s.

Apple iPhone 7: Everything you need to know!

Welcome the new iPhone 7, which just became official and there are lot of changes, some subtle, some major ones.

Starting from the design, the iPhone 7 is now water- and dust-resistant. With an IP67 certification, it can last up to 30 minutes under a meter of water.
The iPhone 7 looks almost the same as its predecessor, but with few key changes. The main among them is the new place of the antenna bands. They are now on the top and bottom edges on the back. Subjectively, this makes the iPhone 7 look a bit cleaner.
Apple has two black offerings - Jet Black and just Black, as well as Gold, Silver and Rose gold.
The headphone jack is gone, just as rumored. Now, plugging headphones will happen through the lightning port only. Of course, you could go wireless with a pair of Bluetooth headphones, too.
Apple includes new EarPod headphones with lightning cable in the retail box as well as a 3.5mm to Lightning port adapter. A new major addition to the phone's audio prowess is the stereo speaker setup.
Another major change is the new Home button - it's now pressure sensitive, as opposed to physically clicking. Instead, the new Home button uses haptic feedback, akin to the MacBook Force Touch trackpad.
At the top and bottom, the iPhone 7 sports stereo speakers. It boasts 2x the volume of the iPhone 6s as well as an improved audio range.
The iPhone 7 weighs 138 grams (5 grams lighter than the iPhone 6s) and measures 138.3mm x 67.1mm x 7.1mm - the same as the predecessor.

Camera

The iPhone 7 features an updated 12MP camera with f/1.8 six-element lens and optical image stabilization. The sensor is 60% faster and 30% more efficient than the previous camera system.
The LED flash is also updated and now consists of four LEDs.
The front-facing camera got its resolution boosted to 7MP and records 1080p video.

Performance

Apple has equipped the iPhone 7 with a new-generation A10 Fusion chip. It features a quad-core CPU with 3.3 billion transistors - two high-performance cores and two power-saving ones. They run 40% faster than the A9 chip and two times faster than the A8.
The other two are high-efficiency cores, which run at 20% of the power needed for the high-performance cores.
There's new GPU as well. It's a six-core one and is 50% faster than the A9's GPU and draws just 66% of the power.

Battery life

Naturally, the battery life has been improved in the iPhone 7. Apple says it lasts two hours more than the iPhone 6s.

Display

The iPhone 7 keeps its 4.7" Retina display. However, it's now 25% brighter and sports a wider color gamut (not specified by how much).

Apple also hinted at updated 3D Touch layer, but details are scarce.

Pricing

The iPhone 7 starts at $649 for the 32GB base model. It will also come in 128GB and 256GB.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are going to be available on September 16, with pre-orders starting on September 9.
And here's the full iPhone line-up that Apple will be selling from now on.

Pricing of the iPhone 7 in the US starts at $649 for the base 32GB model. The 128GB variant costs $749 and the 256GB - $849.
In Europe, the iPhone 7 will retail for €759 for the 32GB variant. You'll have to shell out €869 for the 128GB model and €979 for the 256GB one.

Apple’s ‘AirPods’ may use proprietary “Bluetooth-like” connection

The Apple iPhone 7’s launch is less than 24 hours away and the rumors continue to churn, right on schedule. According an Apple Insider source, “Apple will likely have its own-designed Bluetooth-like communication chip and launch own-brand Bluetooth headphones targeting the high-end market, with Beats positioned in the midrange market,” – Kuo, analyst connected with KGI securities.
Apple is believed to be launching its own ‘Airpods’ (if the name is to be used this way) alongside the Apple iPhone 7 and it is supposed to feature a new proprietary Bluetooth-like communication chip. If this is the kind of structure that Apple is going for, it would not be possible to use these new Airpods on any other device except Apple devices.

If Apple is indeed building these ‘Airpods’, we should not expect that they will be bundled with the new iPhone. Rather, we should expect to see these Airpods as a separate accessory with a separate price tag.
The iPhone 7 will be announced officially on September 7 at 10AM Pacific Time.

New Google Pixel tablet with 4GB ram coming soon!

Nevermind the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL phones, Google could be adding a second Pixel-branded tablet to its roster soon, to complement the 10-inch Pixel Claunched last year.
From Evan Blass (a.k.a. @evleaks) comes news of an in-development Huawei-made Google tablet with a 7-inch screen and 4GB of RAM. This should apparently be in stores by the end of the year.
No additional details are provided, but because he doesn't call it a Nexus tablet, we assume the Nexus brand really is dead after all and Google will focus all of its mobile hardware on the Pixel name as previously rumored. The long-awaited successor to the second-gen Nexus 7 tabletfrom 2013 could have intriguingly been trademarked by Huawei already, as the "7P". So its final name might end up being Google Pixel 7P.
It's unclear whether Google plans to announce this 7-inch tablet at its October 4 event, during which it's said to unveil the two Pixel phones as well as a Daydream VR headset and a 4K Chromecast.

Reliance Jio 4G service is now live, but there are a few things to note

Reliance Jio has really been blowing up lately and understandably so. The company recently announced its plans to offer really competitive tariff plans in India, generally priced lower than the competition. Reliance's main concept seems to be to provide most basic services like voice calls and SMS, essentially for free and pamper users with additional bonuses, like a slew of smart apps, while only requiring payments for data. On the surface, this sounds like a great approach to take the ever-expanding India market by storm and for most users, this might turn out to be a hundred percent true. However, there are a few specifics we feel you must know in order to avoid an abrupt debarking off the hype train.
First of all, let's cover the basics. When we said Reliance Jio is launching a data-first 4G service, this is actually a quite literal description. The company's network only offers LTE service. That means that no fallbacks are present to 3G or 2G, eliminating the possibility to natively use an older device. Voice calls within the network will be done through VoLTE (which must be present on both sides of the conversation, otherwise additional charges do apply) and when you combine the aforementioned two conditions, you can quickly get an idea as to why there has been such a fuss about supported devices lately.
Now, we definitely see why finding if your current handset is supported is a major concern and we wish that there was an easy list or method we could quote. However, there are also a few other factors, like TDD and FDD LTE technologies and LTE Bands that come into play. From what we can gather, Reliance is keeping things as broad as possible, by using 1800 MHz, but the info is unclear on this point as well. That being said, there are at least a few devices that we can already confirm will work on the network with some certainty. Of course, the list also includes the company's own LYF branded devices

Then there is the lengthier still list of partnering devices that had access to Reliance's Preview offer. Chances are that these meet the requirements for the main service as well, although we can't give any guarantees. Reliance seems to be offering a few workarounds to compatibility issue as well, although we are yet to receive any word on how well they perform. There is the JioFi (INR 1,999)– a 4G hotspot device that can connect to up to 10 devices over Wi-Fi and an additional one through USB and relay the service.

Besides getting one of the devices on the first list, the best thing to do to guarantee compatibility seems to be to look for a Reliance Jio partner device deal on Flipkat. That way you also get the card. And if you are not in the market for a new smartphone and just want to get one of the company's pre-paid or post-paid plans, you can surely do that. But, there are a few other things to consider as well. You can get a SIM card from a Reliance Digital Store or Digital Xpress Mini store and it should be a fairly simple process. You have to bring in personal documentation to submit, as well as a photo. Users are reporting Reliance is picky about the latter and it needs to be really recent. Also, arm yourself with some patience, as queues are likely to form. After you get the card, you are just left with a simple verification process via SMS.

Now, for the main course – the tantalizing prices and what they can buy you. Reliance Jio has announced a slew of both pre-paid and post-paid plans. Naturally, they offer different packages, but all seem to share the benefits of free voice calls. Reliance has made a big deal of this, stating that voice will remain free with no roaming charges in India as well, as long as you are a customer. Most plans also offer some text messages for free and free Wi-Fi data. The latter is only applicable through one of the company's own public hotspots and requires a log-in. As for the messages, as well as Wi-Fi and network data, they tends to have a different period of validity, as well as amount, depending on you plan. So, be sure to read the conditions carefully. The same goes for access to Reliance's suite of smart apps, including JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioDrive, JioSecurity and JioMoney.
However, the thing that has most people excited are the insanely low prices on data, specifically the pre-paid 4G plans that start at INR 19 and go up to INR 4,999, as well as the postpaid plans from INR 149. We already mentioned the validity concerns that you can also check out in the two nifty pricing tables. There are a few other fine print things to mention as well. If you are planning on using the service on the cheap and going for a low-end pre-paid pack, Reliance says the INR 19, INR 129 or INR 299 vouchers can't be used as a first re-charge by new customers. Also, the former two only have a validity of a day, so they are not exactly practical for a monthly solution. Another thing standing in the way of using such a SIM as a low-cost data-only plan is the condition that you have to make voice or video calls at least once every 90 days and need a balance of at least INR 20 in the card. Otherwise, the mobile connection will be deactivated and you will have 15 days to pay-up and retain your number.

Speaking of video calls, unlike voice, which is absolutely free, they will be debited via your data-calling pack. The situation is the same with data used in the Reliance apps. Thus, even though they are free, they will still eat away at your megabytes. Also, they will only work on the Reliance Jio network. And speaking of data, what happens if you exhaust the provided pack? Well, on a pre-paid plan you will be paying INR 250 per GB with 10KB charge pulse – significantly less of a deal. Post-paid plans won't be charged extra, but speeds will be throttled to 128 Kbps.
But, it's not all hidden fees and weird conditions. On the grand scheme of things, Reliance does seem to offer a good deal, you just have to be really careful as to exactly what you are getting into. Also, there are a few nice additional deals you can benefit from as well. For starters, there is free unlimited 4G data for the first three months. The "welcome offer" starts on September 5 and ends on January 1 2017. Reliance Jio is offering 15 per cent discount for postpaid users who opt for auto-debit option using credit/debit cards/online transfer for their bill. Students with valid ID also get 25 per cent additional 4G and WiFi data benefits. There is also the "Unlimited at Night" perk, for free data between 2am and 5am.
